Last night we continued our Church Words Series by looking at the word “Worship”. I asked Billy to speak since he leads worship for us every Wednesday night. It felt natural for him to talk about the subject. I in turn, led worship for him. I turned out to be a great night. The worship set was Take it All, All We Need, Everything Glorious, and You are Holy (Isaiah 6). Billy did a great job communicating the main ideas to the students. He has graciously posted his notes on his blog if you are interested. Our attendance was back up after a lull the past few weeks. It was a great night.
If you asked me this morning if today was going to be a good day I would have said, “Ain’t no way.” I ran out of gas on the way to the church, thanks to the gas shortage. My cell phone died while waiting on my wife to come pick me up. I got in her car and proceeded to spill my son’s juice on my pants. I missed a breakfast appointment because of it all. I had a to do list and voicemails waiting on me that would take longer than the hours I had left to complete. And then…
I had a great conversation with a parent in our ministry. I finished 2 tasks that had been hanging over my head. I attended our weekly staff prayer time where I worshipped and prayed with about 25 staff members from our church. The staff prayed for/over me and my staff. I picked up my boys from preschool and talked to my wife for a few minutes. I took my family and my Student Ministry staff to lunch. We made some decisions, together. I listened to Billy’s message for tomorrow night (it’s going to be great). I put the finishing touches on our new High School website (more details to come). I spent some quiet time with the Lord and listened to this song.
I have 1 hour until an Elder Meeting that my Pastor asked our Executive Ministry Team to attend. At the conclusion of it, I will arrive home 15 hours after I left. I’ll be exhausted. Tomorrow is Wednesday. But…
Tomorrow night we are unpacking the word “worship”. As we’ve been preparing for the night I ran across this video. The girl singing is one of my favorites, and the song is _________ (literally no words to describe it).
We will close with this song tomorrow night. It’s definitely worth 4 minutes to watch this.
I felt like it was a little off in every way. Our attendance was a little down with Cherokee Co. being on Fall break and Cobb being half days, and the rain. The band did a good job, but the students seemed to struggle to connect. I felt a little off while speaking, and then…BAM.
8 students stood to receive the Lord as their Savior. So you can’t really say the night was anything but a success. The Lord showed up in spite of our weakness.
Next week we move forward in our Church Words series with “Worship”. Billy will be speaking, and I’m really excited about the direction he’s headed with the message.
This is my personal blog. Most of what is written is my opinion, observation, original thought, or things I find interesting somewhere else. While I am employed by Mt. Just post a comment and tell me I'm an idiot. It'll just be better for all of us.
